Tesla has increased the pricing of upgraded seating layouts on Model X, and no longer includes multiple standard interior décor options on the Performance model.
An effective price change today has raised the price of upgrading the interior layout to six or seven seats by $500. An optional six seat interior layout is available for $6,500 while a seven seat interior layout is offered for $3,500 — previously $6,000 and $3,000 respectively.
Model X comes with a standard five seat interior. The price difference between the six and seven seat interior layouts can be attributed to the more advanced seats offered in the six seat layout.
The six seat interior features the most spacious overall layout due to a open area between the seats in the second row as well as motorized seats that allow for easier access into the rear row of the vehicle. A seven seat layout fits more passengers but includes the same bench seat in the middle row that’s offered on the default five seat layout. All interior layouts include seats that can be folded down for additional cargo space.
Tesla had previously included the choice of any interior décor on the Performance model at no additional cost, though that no longer appears to be the case. A Black and White interior with Carbon Fiber décor can be added to either configuration or layout for an additional $2,000.
It appears Tesla’s costs may be increasing, and the company has decided to pass those increased costs onto consumers. With the threat of tariffs that could affect the automotive industry, this may be a trend that we see continuing for the foreseeable future.
