Tesla has increased the price of Full Self-Driving Capability to $10,000.
Just as Elon Musk announced on Twitter last week then ultimately pushed to Thursday, the new price of Full Self-Driving Capability has taken effect — a total increase of $2,000.
This comes at the same time that a Full Self-Driving Beta is being released to customers in the Early Access program, which is slowly being rolled out to early adopters of the option. The Beta enables autonomous driving on city streets, albeit with extreme caution required.
There are no new features being introduced to the package for those outside of the limited Beta program, making this price change more so symbolic of Tesla’s development progress.
The price change is effective for both new customers ordering online as well as Tesla owners that have yet to add the package to a supported vehicle via their Tesla app.
We feel that $10,000 is a nice round number that shouldn’t make a material difference in the amount of new owners that choose to add the package when configuring a Tesla.
It would be wise for Tesla to keep the price at $10,000 for as long as possible. The price has been updated often without enough new features to coincide with the price increases.
Those that already have the feature or added it recently should benefit from an appreciable increase in the used value of their Tesla of between $1,000-$2,000.
