Tesla has increased pricing for Model 3 as well as the upcoming Model S Plaid+ configuration, while also delaying Model S Plaid+ deliveries.
Model 3 Standard Range Plus now starts at $37,490, a price increase of $500. Conversely, Model 3 Long Range All-Wheel Drive saw its price decreased $500 to $46,490. Model 3 Performance remained consistent at $55,990, following a $1,000 price increase last month.
This comes just three weeks after Tesla dropped the starting price of Model 3 and Model Y by $1,000. In that timeframe Tesla has made numerous changes, including discontinuing Model Y Standard Range. No further changes have been made to Model Y or Model X at this time.
The upcoming Model S Plaid+ had its price increased from $139,990 to $149,990. Estimated deliveries for new Plaid+ orders have been delayed to “Mid 2022.” Neither change has been made retroactive to current orders for Model S Plaid+. Plaid+ is expected to include 520+ miles of range, a top speed of 200mph, and a 0-60 time of less than two seconds.
A Tri-Motor Plaid configuration with 390 miles of range, a top speed of 200mph, and a 0-60 time of 1.99 seconds is still available for $119,990 with an estimated delivery of 10-14 weeks.
It may be tempting for those that are waiting for the Plaid+ configuration to order a similar Model S Plaid that’s available today. Plaid+ does add 520 miles of range, but both vehicles are capable of a 0-60 time that’s under two seconds.
The price changes to Model 3 are slightly confusing, although Tesla doesn’t offer incentives so they simply adjust upfront pricing based on their own production and demand.
It’s unpredictable to know what changes Tesla will make next, which is why we recommend keeping as up-to-date as possible on the market.
