Tesla Releases Its Biggest Software Update Yet

Sep 27, 2019

Tesla has begun rolling out Software Version 10.0: the company’s “biggest software update ever.”

The features included in the over-the-air update (which is available to all current Tesla owners) are numerous, spanning entertainment with new gaming and multimedia options as well as convenience — featuring the long-anticipated release of Smart Summon.

Tesla Theater adds Netflix, YouTube, and Hulu to enjoy on a Tesla’s center display while parked, which is complemented by the quality surround sound system found on every model. This feature is particularly great on Model 3, which features a cinematic 15” 16:9 display. Tesla tutorial videos will also be available to watch.

Smart Summon is finally here for customers that have purchased either Full Self-Driving or Enhanced Autopilot. This semi-autonomous feature allows a Tesla to navigate a parking lot to meet its owner at a destination of their choice. Owners are reminded to monitor their vehicle at all times, as they are still responsible for their vehicle. Please note that compatible vehicles (every Tesla with Enhanced Autopilot hardware) with base Autopilot or no Autopilot functionality will need to upgrade to Full Self-Driving Capability via their Tesla account to use this feature.

Other changes include:.

Spotify Premium is now available to stream and access directly in supported markets.

A new Karaoke feature includes a comprehensive library of music and lyrics to enjoy on a road trip.

Cuphead, a popular run-and-gun action game, has been added to Tesla Arcade

Video clips taken while Sentry Mode is active are now stored in their own separate folder on a USB drive.

“Joe Mode” lowers the cabin volume for select alerts, designed to accommodate sleeping passengers.

The Tesla app is now able to open and close a garage door via HomeLink, defrost a vehicle’s cabin at the maximum temperature, and remotely control windows on a Model 3 and Model X.

A web browser as well as streaming media access are now available via WiFi for Standard and Standard Range Plus owners, with Premium Connectivity plans to be announced in the future.

The update will be rolled out to owners in the Early Access Program first, with all other Tesla customers set to receive it automatically over the next week.
